Spanish Outreach

2229 Hwy. 3185, Thibodaux, LA 70301

God is opening doors for us to serve and share His love with our Spanish-speaking neighbors. We're launching a new outreach ministry dedicated to building relationships, sharing the Gospel, and serving our Spanish community through home Bible studies, worship nights, fellowship events, and more.

Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few" (Matthew 9:37). We believe God is preparing hearts in our community, and we're looking for laborers to join this harvest! Whether you speak Spanish fluently or not at all, there's a place for you in this ministry. What we need most is willing hearts, open hands, and a passion to see lives transformed by the Gospel.

If you feel called to be part of this exciting new work, we'd love to have you join us!

Ways to Get Involved:

  • Bible Study Leaders/Co-Leaders – Help facilitate small group studies in homes (Spanish-speaking leaders and English-speaking support are both needed)

Hospitality Hosts – Open your home for Bible studies or fellowship gatherings

Worship Team – Serve through music, leading worship, or tech support

Event Planning & Support – Help organize outreach events, community gatherings, and special celebrations

Children's Ministry – Serve kids during Bible studies or events (bilingual not required!)

Translation Assistance – Help translate materials or serve as an interpreter

Welcome Team – Greet newcomers and help them feel at home at our events

Administrative Support – Assist with coordinating volunteers and projects.

Youth Ministry

Outreach

Juvenile Justice Facility

2525 Veterans Blvd, Thibodaux, LA 70302 (Residential)

Our church ministers to teenagers at the local Juvenile Justice Facility, offering hope, mentorship, and the transforming love of Christ to young people who have experienced abandonment, neglect, and abuse. We believe every young person deserves a second chance and someone who believes in them.

  • We visit biweekly on Wednesdays for Bible study (3:30-4:30 PM) and weekly men's Bible study (4:30-5:30 PM). We provide Bibles, teach Scripture navigation, discuss real-life challenges, bring snacks, and invite youth to our Wednesday night student ministry. During holidays, we celebrate with donated gifts and are actively improving their living space through dorm painting projects. We're also praying to expand this ministry to the detention center.

"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed." - Psalm 82:3

    • Donate snacks, Bibles, or holiday gifts

Bus Ministry

2229 Hwy. 3185, Thibodaux, LA 70301

Every Sunday, we have the privilege of bringing people to the house of God who might otherwise be unable to attend. Our bus ministry serves those in our community who don't have transportation—seniors, families without vehicles, individuals with disabilities, and anyone who needs a ride to church. It's more than just transportation; it's hospitality on wheels, a warm welcome, and often the first step in someone's journey of faith.

As Psalm 84:10 reminds us, "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere." Let's make sure no one misses out on gathering with God's people because of a lack of transportation.

Our Bus Ministry is more than just a ride; it is a vital lifeline for our congregation. Our mission is simple: to ensure that no one is left behind. From single mothers and their children to our cherished elders who no longer drive, this ministry provides the access they need to experience the Word of God in person. Without this asset, many of our weekly attendees would simply be unable to join us.

Our current bus has the capacity to carry 20 passengers, and we are thrilled to see an average of 15 riders every Sunday morning. However, as our "congregation on wheels" grows, so do our needs.

Ways to Get Involved

CDL Drivers – Drive the bus on Sunday mornings and safely transport members of our community to and from church

Route Coordinators/Bus Helpers – Assist drivers by helping with directions, greeting riders, assisting our elderly friends on and off the bus, ensuring younger passengers are safely buckled in, and serving as the eyes for the driver to oversee needs during the ride

Bus Cleaners/Detailers – Help keep the interior clean and welcoming each week, tidying up after Sunday routes

Exterior Detailing – Wash and maintain the outside of the bus to keep it looking presentable

Maintenance Team – Perform routine mechanical maintenance, inspections, and repairs to keep our buses safe and reliable

Welcome Greeters – Meet riders when they arrive at church and help them feel comfortable and connected

To keep this ministry running safely and efficiently, we are especially seeking:

  • Two CDL drivers to relieve the burden of having only one driver and create a rotating schedule

  • Bus helpers to assist elderly passengers on and off the bus, ensure younger passengers are safely buckled in, and serve as extra eyes for the driver

  • Detailers to help tidy the interior after Sunday routes

Widows

Minstry

2229 Hwy. 3185

House of Prayer Church is committed to caring for the widows in our congregation, honoring them with love, support, and practical assistance during their season of loss and beyond. We believe that ministering to widows is not just an act of compassion—it's a direct command from Scripture and a reflection of pure religion before God.

  • Our widows have faithfully served our church family for years, and now it's our privilege to serve them. Through regular visits, fellowship, meals, and assistance with daily needs, we ensure no widow walks alone. We create opportunities for connection, encouragement, and spiritual support while addressing practical needs they may face.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." - James 1:27

    Ways to Get Involved:

    • Schedule regular visits and phone calls for fellowship

    • Every Tuesday, outreach to the homeless in Houma.

    • Organize special events and gatherings

    • Every other week, community group bible study and Fellowship.

    • Once a month, community outreach
